Bird Watching

  • When: Wednesday 23 July

    Time: 6.45am Pick up  BCEC, 8.45am drop back at BCEC

    Where: Oxley Creek Common, leaving from the BCEC

  • $35 AUD per person

  • Join University of Queensland Professor and former Queensland Chief Scientist Dr. Hugh Possingham for a birding excursion at Oxley Creek Common, an eBird hotspot a mere 15-minute drive from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Oxley Creek Common offers accessible birding opportunities for birders of all ages, stages, and abilities, with 224 species observed to date. On an average morning in early June, you may be able to see and hear as many as 70 species, including three fantails, three finches, three fairywrens, two gerygones, two whistlers, two pardalotes, mistletoe birds, seven honeyeaters - and maybe some surprise waterbirds. 

    Participants must provide their own binoculars (field guide if needed); a printable check-list can be accessed here (extra copies will be available on the bus).

    Please dress for the outdoors and the weather; walking at Oxley Creek is easy on level, well-established trails.

Student Mixer -
Trivia Night

  • When: Tuesday 22 July

    Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

    Where: Plough Inn - 29 Stanley St Plaza, South Brisbane QLD 4101

  • $30 AUD per person

  • Enjoy an informal night of networking and some trivia fun with fellow delegates!

    Maximum 50 spots available, however, students and ECR’s will get priority.

    Tickets include 1 pizza, 1 drink and a night of trivia. All other drinks are paid by yourselves.

    *If you want to sit as a group please get to the venue early to secure your table. 

Conference Dinner

    Time: 6:15pm - 9:00pm

    Where: Plaza Terrace Ballroom

  • Full registration: $100 AUD per person

    Student registration: $80 AUD per person

  • Join us for an evening of great food, conversation, and connection at the Conference Dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to unwind, network with fellow delegates, and celebrate the conference in a relaxed and social setting. Enjoy a delicious meal, entertainment, and the chance to continue discussions sparked during the day in a more informal atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you there!
